Whoopie Pie Making with Sweet Samantha

Tuesday, October 19, 7:00 pm

Zoom Workshop

Recommended for Adults

Ever heard of a “whoopie pie”? Ever bitten into a “black moon” or a “gob”? These are all names for the whoopie pie, considered a New England classic and a Pennsylvania Amish tradition. Do you consider this treat a cookie, a pie, a sandwich, or a cake? Join the Friends of the Millburn Library in learning from the best, Sweet Samantha, as we make our very own “BFO” (for Big Fat Oreo). It is made of two round mound-shaped pieces of cake with a sweet creamy filling. Register soon to learn, bake, and taste for yourself why Maine considers the whoopie pie its official state treat.

Samantha Kestin graduated from Millburn High School. She is a former professional cake decorator and owner of the renowned baking school Sweet Samantha, in Springfield, NJ. Samantha’s cakes have been featured in national magazines over the years. She is also a two-time Food Network competitor and runner up on Cake Wars!

Registration is required. Ingredient list will be provided to registrants in advance.
