LIFETIME LEARNING SERIES: LIVING IN THE MUSLIM WORLD: ONE WOMAN'S PERSPECTIVE

Come join us for a 5 week lecture series for adults. We will be discussing many different topics, including arts/humanities, health/wellness, and current technologies.

Dr. Gillian Hettinger holds a doctorate in British literature from Drew University.  Currently teaching at William Paterson University, she has been awarded multiple fellowships from the National Endowment of the Humanities and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation.  It was while she was completing her doctorate in the early 90's that her husband took a job in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  She took a leave from her teaching position and joined him there.  Her talk will be about her personal experiences of living in the Muslim world, the initial impressions, the day-to-day encounters and the lasting memories.  It will include updates on the current social situation in Saudi Arabia, particularly regarding the status of women.
